In 1988 Expo Design Inc. exhibited a line of furniture (some of the line can be viewed in our Archive section) designed by it’s owner Brian W. Landau, at the International Contemporary Furniture ICFF, Javits Center in NYC. While setting up the booth Brian was stopped by the Union foreman for installing an over head track light. He said “you can’t do that! The Union has to”. Brian’ questioned the union guy why the booth across the isle was able to set their lights, his response was that “it was their product” Not knowing what Expo Designs Lighting would be a decision was made at that moment that by the next show Expo would have it’s own Lighting line. At the 1989 ICFF Metal Man Lighting was introduced & received such a great response that it change the coarse of our Business from furniture to Lighting.
